On view at Kaida Gallery this November is a group show of contemporary Filipino abstractionists and a one-man show of recent paintings by Rene Cuvos.
“M A G N I T UD E S” CURATED BY: NOELL EL FAROL
, a four-man show of works in abstraction by Ruel Caasi, Benjie Cabangis, Eugene Jarque, and Nestor Olarte Vinluan, will be on view at Kaida's Main Gallery from Nov 9, 2008 to Nov 26, 2008.
The exhibit showcases the works of four Filipino painters representing several generations of abstraction in the Philippine visual arts scene in various media.
Providing a visual counterpoint to the group show of abstract works is “Happily Ever After” Rene Cuvos' latest one-man show of figurative and satirical paintings, on view at Kaida Gallery's Gray Wall from November 9-26, 2008.
Cuvos’ latest work such as Hari At Kumander, a satirical piece on the ups and downs of contemporary married life and the complicated, though hilarious, contradictions that conjugal union creates. In this series of works, Cuvos takes time to represent the theme of simple circumstances and challenges faced by married couples—seemingly insignificant or trivial matters that may end up in deeper problems if left unresolved.
The exhibitions open simultaneously on the 9th of November (Sunday), 6 p.m., at Kaida Gallery, located at the 2nd Floor, GFO Building, 122 Kamuning Road, Quezon City, Philippines 1102. The shows run until the 26th of November 2008. For inquiries, please call (632) 4144777 or write info@kaidagallery.com.
